Life Skills Milieu Therapist, Yonkers, NY

The Life Skills Milieu Therapist (MT) is responsible to maintain a safe, predictable and therapeutic living environment for children in care at Andrus. Additionally, this position also provides close supervision, counseling, and support to the children during all Activities of Daily Living (ADL) cottage-based activities. The Life Skills MT will be responsible to plan and implement individual and groups to teach and reinforce children’s adaptive skills and self-confidence in generalizing these adaptive skills across time, people, and settings. This position includes completing adaptive skill assessments, determining which areas are of priority need for intervention, providing effective interventions for practice around ADLs, and maintenance of adaptive skills from being dependent to independent in carrying ADLs and other independent living skills (ILS).  The Life Skills MT will utilize skills and strategies associated with the prompting hierarchy, principles of reinforcement, assessment of skills versus performance deficit, task analyses, and shaping and chaining skills.  Additionally, this position will work as part of a multidisciplinary team which includes residential staff, recreation therapists, OT, social workers, psychiatrists, and nurses.  The Life Skills MT will complete various tasks related to ADLs and will practice open communication with other staff in varying shifts (morning, school, evening, or overnight).  This position will also prioritize the need to assist with the cottage team as a Milieu Therapist and to be flexible in managing the Life Skills duties. This position will include documentation of services and programs surrounding ADLs and of tracking ADL data over time.

Minimum Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with at least 2 years of experience with individuals with behavioral challenges.  Strong verbal, written, and computer skills.  Experience in working with children and pre-adolescents in a residential setting is preferred.  Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and to cooperate while developing, implementing, and maintaining youth’s ADL skills of need.  Candidate should be well organized, practice effective time management skills, be open to continue learning and accepting feedback, and be creative and flexible.  Ability to adhere to our organization’s Core Values.  Physical Requirements:  Must possess ability to sit, stand, walk, run, climb stairs, lift weights of up to 30 lbs; Have physical capacity to restrain or assist in the restraint of a child and Able to communicate effectively with staff and to supervise youth.   Schedule is Monday through Friday, 12pm to 8pm.

Compliance Coordinator, Yonkers, NY

The Compliance Coordinator is a key member of the Quality Assurance & Compliance Department and provides vital support to the agency’s Service Divisions.  The Compliance Coordinator is responsible for conducting regular chart audits and assisting with specified compliance probes in order to ensure agency compliance with regulatory bodies. Some of these probes can be but are not limited to: chart reviews, Medicaid audits, electronic audits, and data extraction and analysis. The Compliance Coordinator is also responsible for assisting with the administration of the agency’s systems (i.e. EMR/EHR, Connections, Incident Reporting Data Base, etc.) and providing training in compliance practices and documentation.  The Compliance Coordinator will work with the Quality Assurance and Compliance team to ensure ANDRUS adheres to local, state and federal as well as accreditation entities expectations and standards.

Minimum Requirements:  High School Diploma with and at least 2 years of IT or MIS experience working with EMR/EHR and system administration or comparable client data systems in a Healthcare, Social Service, Educational or comparable setting OR Associate’s Degree preferably in computer science, or in social science or a related field (psychology, public health, public policy, education, statistics, etc.).  Advanced Excel expertise required, strong written and oral communication skills.  Experience working with health and behavioral health field with an understanding of related terminologies and documentation. Valid NYS Driver’s License in good standing.  Must be able to sit, stand, walk, see, climb stairs, and carry up to 30 lbs. Ability to adhere to our organization’s core values. Family Resource Specialist, Yonkers, NY

The Family Resource Specialist is responsible for completing the Parent Survey with parents (prenatally and/or immediately after the birth of their child) to determine eligibility for home visitation services and to connect the family with needed resources and referrals. The Family Resource Specialist will use reflective practice techniques to engage parents and explain the home visiting services to interested parents.  The Family Resource Specialist must have good writing skills to complete the Parent Survey.  If the family does not enter the program, the Family Resource Specialist will make referrals to the appropriate community-based agencies, depending on the family’s needs.  The Family Resource Specialist is also responsible for conducting community outreach and maintaining referral relationships with referral sources in the community.  The Family Resource Specialist will provide ongoing community outreach to promote the program daily.

Minimum Requirements:  High School Diploma or GED with two (2) years direct work experience with children and families in a community setting.  Strong oral and written communication skills and knowledge of basic computer systems.  Knowledge of Yonkers and county resources valued.  Facility in written and spoken English and Spanish preferred. ANDRUS has operated with a balanced budget for the past seven years. POSITION SUMMARY:

ANDRUS seeks to retain a proven, dynamic, high-energy self-starting professional who thinks strategically and will use their entrepreneurial moxie and commitment to serve children and families to best position and enable ANDRUS to further succeed in its mission. This can only be accomplished through increasing the donor base and raising more financial resources. Fortunately, both the professional and Board leadership are eager to support this effort through the dedication of both time and resources.

The Vice President of Development (VPD) will report directly to the CEO, Heath Bloch, a dynamic, trusted and widely respected leader who was selected to head ANDRUS after a nation-wide search in May of 2021. A Social Worker by training, Heath has over 20 years of experience at organizations like ranging from SCO, The Shield Institute and Jewish Board. Heath is also on the adjunct faculty at NYU, where he teaches Advanced Social Policy in Mental Health. This position will be a key member of the senior management team — consisting of nine individuals. The VPD will supervise the efforts of the development team (2) and the marketing and social media staff (1), and partner with program staff as relates to their responsibilities to support fundraising.

The successful candidate will have considerable fundraising experience or related sales experience. More importantly, ANDRUS is looking for an individual who is hard working, understands the philanthropic arena, is hungry to learn about the transformative nature of their work and can think outside the box as they do a deep dive into the philanthropic community to unearth new prospects, cultivate existing donors with greater potential, re-engage lapsed donors and manage an array of ongoing relationships with philanthropic stakeholders in the community.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn about and understand the organization, its programs, its demographics, and its potential sources of philanthropic support
  • Perform demographic research related to each neighborhood including soliciting input from existing ANDRUS personnel
  • Create a cohesive multi-year development plan with specific goals and strategies for achieving measurable results.
  • Identify/cultivate relationships with and solicit individuals, corporations and foundations
  • Develop an effective site-specific events strategy that capitalizes on engagement and relationship building rather than the logistics of venue, menu, and invitation selection
  • Institute a moves management system of donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Work with the existing volunteer activity(which is considerable)to strategize around how the volunteer community can be used as a bridge to expanding philanthropic support.
  • Conduct fundraising activities including, but not limited to, general, targeted (to each location),testamentary and longer-term capital grants
  • Utilizing multiple methods of fundraising including social media campaigns, targeted email distribution, in-person events, campus and other facility tours, and face-to-face solicitation both independently and in partnership with staff, Development Committee of the Board and Board leadership
  • Once approved, lead the implementation of the plan, including organizing the participants, such as Board members, staff members and volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The successful candidate will:
  • Have a bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in direct development and/or ‘sales ’effort. Membership in professional fundraising association and CFRE certification are desirable.
  • A passion for supporting children and families in need. Experience in large scale human services organizations a plus.
  • Have successful and demonstrable experience in financial resource development,includingpersonalsolicitationatthe5and6-figurelevel
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the philanthropic arena
  • Demonstrated organizational and management skills, with supervision of staff a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills in philanthropic research and outreach

Associate Vice President of Campus Programs, Yonkers, NY

The Associate Vice President of Campus Programs is responsible for planning, monitoring and improving the Campus Programs at ANDRUS. The AVP of Campus Programs is responsible for the supervision and development of the Director of Residential Programs, The Orchards School Principal, The director for Clinical Services, the Day Treatment Program Clinical Supervisor and the Chief Nurse and ultimately all staff and interns who report to these individuals. He / She maintains ultimate responsibility for coordinating the delivery of safe, structured, enriching and individualized programs for each child in care. MSW or Doctoral Degree in a Human Service Field with five (5) years of administrative experience. Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience working with children, preferably in a residential setting. Must possess ability to sit, stand, walk, run, climb stairs and lift weights of up to 30lbs. Have physical capacity to restrain or assist in the restraint of a child. Be able to hear and see well enough to provide appropriate supervision of children. This is a 35 hour work week including evening and weekend hours when necessary. Ability to be on call and available for consultation in crisis as needed. Required to live in ANDRUS housing.

Ability to work as a member of interdisciplinary teams, design and facilitate clinically informed Therapeutic Recreation programs (monthly activity & trip calendars), and engage youth and colleagues through motivational leadership is a must. Candidates should be well organized, practice effective time-management, and be open to continued learning and feedback. Candidates should have strong oral, written, and computer skills.  Experience with OR willingness to receiving training in the following areas are a plus: Ropes Challenge Course facilitation/ Experiential Education, Lifeguarding, NYPUM youth dirt biking, vocational programming, animal-assisted interventions, music production, sports coaching, and other programmatic areas of Therapeutic Recreation. This position will also require intervening to support youth at necessary during times of emotional crisis. The Graduate Internship Training Program (The Internship) is a vital part of ANDRUS’ mission, offering students working toward the completion of their degree the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to practice independently.

The Internship is a formal training opportunity for graduate students to foster their professional development through clinical application of their academic learning under the supervision of licensed professionals in the field of their study.
