Bringing quality mental health services to homeless and Head Start families
ANDRUS actively seeks to partner with highly respected local organizations to extend our mental health services to low-income families in need of psychological and emotional intervention.
With support from the Westchester Community Opportunity Program (WestCOP), ANDRUS offers school-based and on-site mental health services to children and families enrolled with the Children’s Center for Learning/Head Start in New Rochelle and The Lois Bronz Children’s Center in White Plains. These clinicians provide a range of formal and informal support and clinical services to the children, families and staff in the program.
Working in concert with agency staff, ANDRUS clinicians provide:
- Consultation on mental health issues
- Teacher support groups
- Crisis intervention
- Individual, family, milieu and group therapy
In addition, a therapeutic nursery, staffed by two Head Start teachers and two clinicians, provides more intensive treatment for children with severe emotional and behavioral difficulties.
